Behold the new Citroen-mobile!
A CPO 2015 BMW X1 with the BMW Premium Selection thing (2 years warranty, 24h assistance, trip/holiday assistance and 1% interest in financing)
It ain’t much, but I sort of like it, much better mpg than the Tribeca, plus it can sorta take on the tasks the Tribeca had.

Very nice! I think the X1 gets a lot more hate on here than it deserves.

Congratulations! I really like the X1 as it’s the closest we’ll get to a 1 series hatchback in the States.

I tried talking my mum into one of these when her E39 acted up again. She really liked it, but then she got her car back and they had washed it, and it looked so clean and was sooooo beautiful and..... Apparently she can’t let go, and loves it more than she likes money in the bank.
If you don’t mind me asking, why do you need two pretty similar vehicles a.k.a. a cuv and a wagon? What can the X1 do that the Passat can’t?

I pushed this hard as a replacement for my wife’s car in a couple of years, said she’d only accept in that fun orange color, and even then wasn’t digging it. SIGH.

No problem.
More often than not I have to go to the country-side or the beach and I usually take the dogs with me. The car I use for that task is usually one with a higher ride height, is reliable (or has a warranty) and something I don’t mind getting dirty.
The Passat is in the best of terms finicky, and I don’t trust those low-ish profile tyres and suspension to do well in dirt road. So I had the Tribeca (which had a warranty and those attributes) but that warranty is gone and it has reached 100k km (my limit on most cars). So in comes the X1, 2 year warranty, beefier tires and higher ride height.

It basically does I wanted from it and it handles well/sips fuel.

Weirdly enough I prefer them in the more understate colours, but this was the only one I could find with the smaller wheels.

Tribeca was basically a SUV that handled well (beefy tires and symmetrical AWD) and the car I would take on a dirt road.
The X1 is basically the same thing, BMW handling and higher ride hight, which is what I wanted.

I like this. All of the sudden I’ve had a hankering for x1's. Is this normal or do I need therapy?

I can totally understand your mom. Right now I’m looking for sorta clean and low mileage BMW E36/E46/E39 and guess what, I am out of luck it seems. Only deadass Polos, Corsas and other soul crushing shit for sale atm:(
